Colt: 10 Month Update

2010.08.09 064.10monthphotoshoot

Only TWO months until Colt turns ONE. In the meantime, here is his 10 month update:

Eating:
Colt is a human garbage disposal. We haven''t found anything he won''t eat. He hasn''t eaten "baby food" in several weeks and now that he is in his new daycare class he is trying lots of new foods from the school cafeteria! On their list has been beef tips, rice, baked beans, macaroni and cheese, chicken fingers, granola bars, animal crackers, and lots lots more.

Sleeping:
Colt has still been going to sleep about 9:30pm and then one of two things happens:

1. I wake him up at 6:30 to get ready for school.

2. He wakes up about 5am and he comes to snuggle in bed with us (me for 30 min, dad for 2 hours)

Daycare:
We are officially in the new "creeper" class. The creeper class is for the 10-14 month old kids. Colt is the youngest one in the class but has lots of friends in there. His best friends are Miller and Parker. Miller is OBSESSED with Colt''s glasses. One morning I witnessed Miller speed-crawl from the opposite side of the room, knock Colt down, pin him to the floor, take his glasses, and speed-crawl back to his own corner. We might just have to teach Colt a few self defense moves!

Milestones:
Colt has 6 full teeth now, 4 on the top and 2 on the bottom. He is still crawling like a wounded soldier but it doesn''t seem to affect his speed. Kid can probably crawl as fast as I can walk. The cruising has begun. Colt can circle the coffee table and even go from the coffee table to the couch. He also can stand up at the back window to look at the dogs which we think is so cute.

Talking:
We are fairly certain his first "REAL" word besides "da da" is DOG. He will stand at the back door and call for the dogs and when they come to the door he gets so excited and says "DA". Its very distinctive and not "da da da" but "DA".

What he Loves:
Taking all the pots and pans out of the cabinets and "decorating" the kitchen, den, and dining room with them. The dishwasher (unloading it as Mom loads it). The zoo (we go at LEAST once a weekend). His first Tonka truck his Grandpa Kelley gave him. His new car seat box.

Stats:
No doctors appointment until his 1 year check up!

Other Random News:
Colt had his first follow-up visit at the eye doctor last week. They did not dilate his eyes but patched them individually to be sure he was focusing with both eyes. Seems to be doing ok. They will check his prescription in December to see if his eyes have gotten better, worse, or stayed the same. Keep him in your prayers.
