I'm not sure there's anything more American than celebrating the 4th of July at the Ballpark, and we did just that. We headed downtown to watch the hometown Barons play in their new ballpark. The new park is outstanding and hopefully will rejuvenate what's been a struggling downtown. We've been to a few games this year and it's been a great experience each time.
The game on the 4th ended up being a terrific pitcher's duel. The Barons fell short in this one, but after the game concluded we were treated to Fireworks on the Mountain ~ Birmingham's big fireworks show.
The following night we were back again for the Kid's Hat Night promotion. Colt got a great hat just for showing up, and he's been wearing it proudly around town. Colt was also lucky enough to snag a ball to add to his collection of game-used balls. He got several last year as well, adding to an impressive total, especially considering Dad has never been lucky enough to snag a single foul/homerun ball.
