Double Header

2013.04.13 038.thunderdoubleheader

The Thursday Thunder had a doubleheader on Saturday, playing back to back games against, yes, the Bombers and Bears again. There are only 3 teams in the league, so we play each other over and over.

Colt was in fine form and spent much of the game on the ground. He's fine-tuned his diving/falling, which is so dramatic that he'll fit right in playing professional soccer. Several times, coaches on the opposing team thought he was injured and rushed over to help. Nope, that's just Colt.

He spent most of the day in his own little world, but somehow ended up making the play of the day. He was standing in his own goal, with his back to the field, playing with the netting and completely oblivious to anything going on in the game, when a player on the team broke loose and took a great shot on goal. Instead of going in for a goal, it bounced off the back of his shoe and safely away from the net. Both sidelines erupted in laughter. [It was pretty funny]

Outside of the 99% of the time he spent lying on the ground, playing with net, and picking up rocks, he did score TWO GOALS! - both times on long runs where he dribbled the ball the length of the field and scored. He was so proud after he scored - I thought it might motivate him to "get in the game", but he pretty much went right back to lolly-gagging around.

I don't mean for this post to sound negative - I love watching him play, especially when he tries, because he's going to be a very good soccer player. Watching him play now is both frustrating and comical at the same time.

Two more games to go!
