The National Championship

I changed flights late last week to beat the weather and avoid any travel delays on my trip out to see the Tigers bring home the National Championship trophy. It worked on the way out, but what got me on the way home wasn''t the weather, but a mechanical problem with our plane. My flight was canceleld and they can''t get me home! The weather prevented me from getting on any other flight. So now the plan is to fly out to Minneapolis in the morning and hope to make it on a flight to Atlanta flying standby.

Outside of the travel delays, and the Auburn Family completely overwhelming the city of Phoenix, it''s been an unforgettable trip. I flew up from Atlanta Sunday morning with my friend Jimmy, where we met up with Scott and the rest of our regular tailgating crew. It was way tougher than I thought it would be leaving Susan and Colt behind, but they were here in spirit and we all missed them.

Sunday night Auburn took over Scottsdale. The Auburn Radio Network held Tiger Talk at a sports bar called the Upper Deck. Oregon setup shop at another bar/restaurant across the street, with a big Oregon Headquarters banner setup outside. The Upper Deck was packed, and the Auburn crowd soon spilled over across the street and Oregon Headquarters became engulfed with Orange. The OU folks left.

On Monday, we went to the stadium about 5 hours before the game and went to "College Football''s Ultimate Tailgate Party". We met up with my Dad there, and spent most of that time battling the crowds and looking for my dad''s friend - he got lost! After the tailgate party, we made it just in time for Tiger Walk - which was really just cheering the buses as they drove by. It was still AUsome.

We got into the game about 2 hours before kickoff. We watched all the pre-game festivities and warmups until the game finally started, then spent the next 4 hours on the edge of our seats. It was an awesome game!
