Alabaster held their annual CityFest a few weeks ago, and after having such a great time at last year's festival, we had to go back for more. This year's edition was MUCH cooler, which made for a great day of bounce houses, swing rides, bounce houses, Lowe's Build n' Grow projects, bounce houses, face painting, bounce houses, and more. And bounce houses.
Colt, despite Dad's help, was able to put together a fun slot-machine game set in the Lowe's Build n' Grow. He very much enjoyed being able to hammer things without getting scolded!
When we passed the face paint booth, Colt got really excited when he saw a baseball was one of the paintings they offered. He was not at all interested in having them paint on his face - he wanted that ball somewhere where HE could see it! So they painted it on the top of his hand. He was very proud of it, and took great care not to get it wet while washing hands, etc., over the next several days.
My favorite part of the day was the "fireman". While it wasn't nearly the heat wave of last year's CityFest, it was still way too hot for anyone to wear a full firesuit, so they had a manequin with a radio connected to it, so the firemen, sitting at a distance, could talk through the radio. Colt couldn't quite figure it out, but knew something was fishy with that radio. He did grab it and press a few buttons. Fortunately, it still worked when we left.
