With our favorite spot at Seagrove Beach demolished, this year we headed just a short drive down 30A to Seacrest Beach, where we spent 5 relaxing days in a beachfront condo. Colt had been looking forward to getting back to the beach ever since our last beach trip, and was super excited about the whole thing.
We spent most of our time on the beach or in the condo, where we ate most of our meals. Colt was all about the beach, and enjoyed crab hunting, playing in the waves, and building sand castles. He even took advantage of his swimming skills and has now learned to snorkel! He spent hours snorkeling in the gulf (just a few feet offshore) and he is really making inroads to be included on our next Carribean adventure. The only snag with our beach time was when a jellyfish decided to make friends with both Colt and Dad. Unfortunately, soon after the beaches went to double-red flags and we were relegated to swimming in the pool.
We did eat out a few times, taking in dinner at Bayou Bill's Crab House, Old Florida Fish House, and FudPucker's. All were fun with great food - the Fish House had the best food and Fudpucker's was the most "fun". One of the food highlights was Charlie's Donut Truck at Alys Beach - I'd never thought I'd wait in line 45 minutes for donuts, but I guess it was the thing to do!
