We took advantage of the good weather and hit a couple of popular hiking trails in the area. Oak Mountain's Treetop Trail is a short hike that has birds of prey on display that are maintained by the park. We saw owls, hawks, vultures, and more. Red Mountain Park's Mine Trail features many entrances to abandoned mines from Birmingham's past. And of course we did some geocaching while on the trail! Both very interested hikes that the kids enjoyed. Check out the pics!

Over spring break we visited Alabama's Dauphin Island. This barrier island is home to Fort Gaines, Dauphin Island Sea Lab, The Estuarium aquarium, and beautiful beaches. It was still on the cool side in March, but that didn't stop the kids from enjoying the water. We also enjoyed visits to Fort Gaines and the Estuarium. We also hiked the trails at the Audubon Bird Sanctuary - not sure how many birds we saw but we did see some crocodiles! We also made the short drive over to Mobile for visits to the USS Alabama and Fort Morgan. Check out the pics!

Catching up on some pictures, in March we took a day trip to Alabama's Natural Bridge. Just over an hour drive from Birmingham, this 148 ft. bridge is the longest natural bridge east of the Rockies. There are several nice hiking trails in the park which made for a great day trip. Check out the pics!

Over Christmas break we took a short trip over to Callaway Gardens. Highlights of the trip included the Butterfly Garden, Treetop Adventure ropes course, a trip to the nearby Wild Animal Safari, and a stay at a "yurt" at the Pine Mountain RV Park. Hope you enjoy the photos!
